Provide safety leadership for our Rotating Machinery products. Lead our rotating machinery design teams and products through proactive safety analysis and reactive safety cases to ensure the product safety and ensure positive outcomes for our internal and external customers

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective and timely reviews of product safety concerns with the safety team, opening reactive product safety cases as required.

  • Guide teams to implement Containment within 10 days of reactive SAFER case creation.

  • Lead the teams in making timely progress toward reactive product safety case resolution, assigning SMART action items that drive teams to make product safety a high priority.

  • Prioritize reactive product safety cases based upon delivering highest levels of customer experience by ensuring GE products meet safety criteria and identified risks are properly mitigated.

  • Escalate potential roadblocks early to improve leadership awareness and support.

Proactive Systems Safety Analysis

  • Leverage historical baselines, where appropriate, to conduct efficient reviews and deliver timely outcomes to meet design review tollgates.

  • Follow New Product Introduction (NPI)/New Technology Introduction (NTI)/Direct Material Productivity (DMP) project planning to ensure early identification of upcoming workload.

  • Ensure lessons learned from prior product safety reactive cases are appropriately incorporated into proactive reviews for new or revised products.

  • Actively promote adoption state-of-the-art design features that improve product safety

  • Liaison and working with the Legal team to inform customers of relevant issues and actions pertaining to any emerging safety requirements, notices and implementation of corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Technical Regulations and Standards. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Strong Experience in a systems/safety environment post qualification is also required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Preferable significant experience includes candidates from Marine, Offshore, Oil and Gas, Industry or similar fields, involving heavy electrical power systems, automation and control.

  • Strong Background in technical problem analysis/understanding, systems engineering, customer

  • Background in the GE SAFER process

  • Knowledge of the SemaPro software
