What Impact You’ll Make:

The EHS Portfolio Director will implement and maintain Gas Power EHS strategy for New Unit Installations and projects in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) and Aeroderivative Business Lines, including mega deal projects. In addition, this Director will act as a player/coach and People Leader to a team of EHS Site Managers and/or EHS Projects Specialists in the Pole. The EHS Portfolio Director partners with the Commercial Team on ITO preparedness and Portfolio Directors, Project Managers, Site Managers and Technical Installation Managers to plan, implement and maintain the site EHS Management System, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, contractual and company requirements. This Director will coordinate with the Pole Projects EHS Director and site EHS professionals, as well as the Project and Construction & Commissioning (C&C) Directorship Team to define, monitor and support resources to improve EHS performance at Project Sites.

This Director’s portfolio of projects may include kits, Equipment Only (EO), Engineered Equipment Package (EEP) and Turnkey (TK).

The portfolio currently covers all new unit projects in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain; experience in these markets is required.

Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as People Leader to a team of EHS Site Managers and/or EHS Projects Specialists in the Pole, providing continuous support and mentoring.

  • Support EHS professionals aligned to Projects including mega deals in the Pole for EHS issues escalated beyond the site level.

  • Partner with all business lines (Global Supply Chain, Services, Operation & Maintenance) for both equipment schedule and logistics, and successful inclusion of and/or handover to services.

  • Work in close coordination with other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) companies, developers/buyers (end customer) on successful execution of mega deal projects, for all type of projects.

  • Develop standardization opportunities and drive simplification of the KPI reporting and analysis process in the Projects portfolio in the Pole.

  • Plan and support the execution of Site EHS Plans for multiple Projects/installations.

  • Work with Site Managers and Technical Installation Managers to monitor the effectiveness of site-related rules defined in the Site EHS Plan and, in consultation with the Site Manager / lead TA, revise as necessary to keep up to date.

  • Consistently apply relevant EHS policies, procedures and minimum EHS standards per statutory, regulatory, contractual and GE requirements, ensuring effective implementation of EHS Management System including Policy, Plan, training, effective risk assessment, inspection, auditing, event management and analysis.

  • Identify best practice opportunities and proactively implement.

  • Develop innovative solutions for onboarding of site teams for starting with the right safety mindset before site works, such as VR (virtual reality) for training on high-risk operations, training lab to experience risks before being exposed to them at site.

  • Ensure an effective review of GE and contractor method statements and associated risk assessment against GE, customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Actively communicate on the GE Framework and audit requirements and ensure the Site Manager monitors and maintains site compliance. Set up and maintain the EHS training needs analysis and training plan.

  • Maintain EHS records and documentation for the duration of Projects.

  • Work with the Pole Projects EHS Director, Portfolio Directors, Pole Construction & Commissioning, Technical Direction Installation (TDI) and Individual Project Managers to coordinate planning and implementation of all EHS activities from ITO to OTR.

  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken in the event of an EHS non-compliance.

  • Establish and maintain Project Site EHS culture with Lead TA, Project Manager and other supporting TAs during mobilization and execution.

  • Liaise with EHS Inquiry to Order (ITO) resources and project execution teams to ensure orderly and consistent planning and hand-off of EHS items to Order to Remittance (OTR) and the mobilization of EHS resources to site.

  • Devote significant time to on-site support of projects, especially during the early phases of execution (Premobilization, Installation, Commissioning and Commercial Operation Date (COD)) and as needed during later phases of project execution.

  • Align EHS strategic objectives with customer. Share EHS standards and lessons learned. Provide EHS support and technical EHS advice to customer. Establish Readiness to Work processes, including security and medical assessments.

  • Proactively identify potential customer deviations from EHS contractual terms, propose and implement mitigation plan, and escalate as needed.

  • Support Pole Projects EHS Director in Daily Management of EHS Key Performance Indicators for Projects in portfolio.

  • Deliver timely information to Pole Projects EHS Director and Business Management in relation to any trends that become evident through analysis of data from portfolio of projects.

  • Ensure effective EHS communication to all site personnel, including EHS Read Across events and actions.

  • Conduct Quarterly audits at each site using Comply Works tool. Record findings, document and communicate EHS performance.

What You’ll Bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • Experience leading a team

  • Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders within an organization

  • Ten years of EHS experience

  • Five years of Construction safety experience in industrial sectors such as Power Generation, Nuclear and Oil & Gas.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Ability to travel up to 50% (mostly within Saudi Arabia, however international travel is required as well) . Applicants must be able to meet travel requirements, including ability to obtain required permits/visas in a timely manner permitting work in those countries/locations to which overseas travel is likely to form a significant part of the role as dictated by business needs.

  • Saudi Arabia market experience is required

  • English and Arabic fluency.
