Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

GE’s Hydro Turbines and generators represent more than 25% of the total installed capacity worldwide with 4000 employees present in more than 30 countries. Our portfolio of solutions for hydropower generation includes the broadest range of hydro solutions and services: from water to wire, from individual equipment to complete turnkey solutions, for new plants and the installed base.

Roles and Responsibilities :

1.Operational

  • Mobilise the site and set up of site infrastructure

  • Plan and set up vehicles, accommodation and other support for site staff

  • Establish site regulations and rules of site operation

  • Select and hire local personnel as required

  • Execute daily (if required), weekly and monthly comprehensive reports

  • Set up the site filing and document control system

  • Strategically execute the site Cost Control

  • Strategically execute the GE Vernova EHS Policy and the site EHS plan

  • Strategically manage the site schedule, progress of works and cost

  • Set up and strategically execute the site QA/QC plan

  • Carry out both meritorious and disciplinary actions as prescribed by GE Vernova regulations

  • Take necessary actions to maintain high site morale

  • Manage subcontracts / subcontractors

  • Conduct daily and weekly meetings with staff and subcontractors.

2.Managerial (Budget / Administration / People)

  • The overall management and leadership of the site staff.

  • Developing a Site Safety Culture during the site execution of the project.

  • Promote & develop a collaborative culture towards seamless execution of the site works between GE Hydro, it’s sub-contractor, the customer and other contractors on site (e.g. civil works)

  • Executing the project within the site installation budget.

  • Achieving all major milestones within the site schedule.

  • Performance assessments of all site staff including contract staff and life-of-project staff.

  • Maintaining an intensive customer relationship and a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Closeout of all site subcontracts with fair and proper allocation of costs, minimizing impact to GE Vernova Hydro Power

  • Representation of GE Vernova Hydro Power to the customer and local authorities.

  • Maintaining and enhancing the professional image and reputation of GE Vernova at all times.

3.Specific Functional/Technical authority (besides DoA):

  • Has the ultimate authority on the site as prescribed by GE Vernova Hydro Power rules and regulations

  • Is authorised to remove any person or object from site.

  • Is authorised to take urgent or emergency action to remedy sudden problems or discrepancies.

  • Has authority to communicate with the client and any local entity or authority in the execution of his tasks.

  • Is authorised to make expenditures according to company rules and regulations.

  • Is authorised to carry out disciplinary actions on site according to company rules and regulations.

  • Is authorised to carry out appraisals and assessments of site staff

4.Measurement / Key Performance Indicators

  • All major milestones achieved on time.

  • Overall site construction and subcontract budget targets are achieved.

  • Any cost variances are fairly and properly allocated, impact to GE Vernova Hydro Power is minimized.

  • All parties to the project are able to make optimum decisions based on information supplied from site.

  • EHS Road Map targets are achieved with zero lost time injuries or fatalities.

  • Customer satisfaction survey targets are achieved.

  • All required performance assessments are completed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • Proven management experience in power plant construction and engineering

  • Appropriate experience and training in general leadership and management technique

  • High proficiency in English required

  • Ability to influence and oversee change across the organization

  • Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines

  • Ability and willingness to travel and work domestically and internationally as required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the power generation industry is desirable

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs

  • Established project management skills
