Job Description Summary

The Grid Automation CoE Leader will be responsible for driving the R&D/ NPI, Services and global project engineering activities for the Grid Automation India teams. You will work with other functional leaders across the globe to help deliver a best-in-class engineering experience.

You will drive initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Engineering function and interfaces with other functions to provide effective NPI, LCS, Services and Project Engineering activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers working in diverse domains such as Firmware & Software developments, validation, System Solutions, project engineering, Cyber Security etc.

  • Lead a set of people leaders who provide day to day management for the teams (consisting of GE employees and contingent workers) working on R&D (NPI) and projects requisition domains located at Hyderabad, NOIDA and Chennai

  • Lead and effectively leverage resources / employee's skills and abilities to improve efficiency, productivity and deliver on KPIs identified such as OTD, Velocity, release Quality etc

  • Drive priorities such as Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost that are in line with business strategy and establish a mechanism to periodically track them

  • Implement Safety processes and actions to ensure highest safety in operations across all sites, teams and labs

  • Demonstrate and lead with the GE VERNOVA leadership behaviors and drive a culture that is built on meritocracy, fosters growth, respects inclusion & diversity

  • Coach and mentor team members to drive increased contribution and enable career growth

  • Attract, motivate and retain the talent to outperform the business goals.

  • Lead by example in embracing LEAN and Continuous Improvement culture across the team

  • Harness synergies across the India COE teams and build a collaborative culture to maximize OTD and product / project quality

  • Strong understanding of the skill set availability in the market and ability to guide the Talent Acquisition team to attract the right talent would be an added advantage

  • Understanding of the Support Functions such as Finance, Sourcing , Logistics and Strong connect to drive the Support function activities needed for GA COE

  • Work with the local site leadership and facilities to ensure smooth operations of GA COE teams

  • Passion to grow team’s contribution and willingness to take calculated risks and challenges

  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.

  • Employs sophisticated operational/product management, manufacturing or engineering techniques. Interaction with adjacent functions needed to solve issues. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

  • Presents business or technical discipline solutions to leaders. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation / Electronics/ Electrical / Software Engineering.

  • 15+ years of strong hands-on experience in engineering & automation with at least 5 years of experience of leading teams

  • Shown people management & project leadership skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Motivated great teammate, self- starter, data driven and results oriented

Desired Characteristics

  • Shown technical domain and leadership capabilities for NPI team

  • Master’s degree in the above disciplines and Hands-on development experience with GE products in the area of Grid automation, substation protection & controls

  • Works well under pressure in a highly matrixed structure

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstratedability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability todocument, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills
