GE Vernova Construction Site Works Commodity Manager in Remote, Pennsylvania
Job Description Summary
In this role you will be responsible for sourcing construction and other site works subcontractors for high voltage electrical installation projects. This role is responsible for achieving a highly competitive construction bid environment via subcontractor identification, accurate proposal development, thorough bid analysis, price negotiation and favorable contract terms and conditions; all to drive successful execution outcomes that preserve schedule and margin.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
Act as subject matter expert, understand and coordinate the key levers of cost, quality, and delivery for construction site works & subcontracting engagement & execution to ensure successful, timely, predictable, and efficient construction projects.
Ensure fair competitive bidding process in compliance with GE’s policies and procedures.
Identify and qualify subcontractors, quote, assess and negotiate contracts and costs for subcontractors and site works for substation projects.
Ensure the subcontractor scope is adequately defined and agreed upon by all stakeholders
Evaluate construction bid pricing and scope compliance
Source and develop certified minority-, veteran-, and women-owned subcontractors to achieve customer requirements.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders such as engineering, operations, and construction teams to set and maintain budgets for direct costs within schedule
Negotiate subcontractor contracts with the support of Contract Management team; obtain required supplier commercial and financial documents to add or update records for active suppliers in the Supplier Master File
Provide effective problem resolution to enable quick improvements and better working relationships between the subcontractor and site management when escalated. Troubleshoot, negotiate and mediate problems that arise at site level.
Maintain and report success metrics;
Communicate status regularly with senior leaders in a matrixed organization
Leverage total GE buy through development of supplier strategies and preferred subcontractor programs
Implement procedures for continuous improvement, accountability, and efficiency in subcontractor engagement and execution process
Develop and lead subcontractor performance review process to facilitate subcontractor performance improvements and cross-project communication/referrals.
Ensure compliance with GE Vernova sourcing policies
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with subcontractors (construction labor and services) negotiating costs, schedule, and contracts
Minimum 5 years of negotiation experience
Desired Characteristics:
Direct site experience with HV electrical installation/construction
Experience procuring or delivering construction labor and services and civil, site works, HV electrical and mechanical installation services.
Experience performing quoting and negotiating activities (i.e., identifying subcontractors for quote, qualifying subcontractors, issuing requests for quote, contract negotiation, price negotiation)
Experience in utility/electrical construction
Experience in construction management
Strong ability to interpret proposal documents/requirements (i.e.,SOW, specifications, drawings)
Contract Management
Knowledge or experience with cost estimating
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, organizational skills
Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deliver results on time and in budget
Address conflict directly and constructively; remains open to differing points of view
Articulate information in a manner that is easily understood
