Job Description

As the Industrial Tendering Application Engineer , you will produce and manage the technical offerings for the Industrial & Energy Infrastructure new equipment segment. You will provide direct customer-facing technical support during the bid process through to negotiation and order closure. By using your creativity and experience, you will provide bespoke best value offerings which demonstrate our value proposition to the customer.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Interpreting the customer requirements with accuracy, quality and timeliness to meet customer needs & business goals.

  • Working with engineering to define the best “Technical Design” propositions.

  • Completing technical risk review processes and project schedules.

  • Creating internal & external supplier specifications.

  • Assisting with cost optimization to help secure competitive pricing.

  • Providing technical support through all stages of the Bid & Risk process.

  • Producing technical specification documents which go into our offering, from system design and electrical design diagrams to cable schedules and test instructions, etc.

  • Supporting the sales managers in their customer meetings & negotiations.

  • Participating in the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) and Order-to-Remittance (OTR) handover process by providing technical support to the order booking process.

  • Understanding the account strategy and our competitive situation in conjunction with the sales leader and account sales manager.

  • Supporting the service sales team in shaping long-term commercial offerings.

  • Creating and presenting (Power-Point) to customers to best describe the value of our offerings – both internally & externally.

  • Helping to develop our negotiation position in conjunction with the sales account manager, as well as commercial, legal and senior leadership.

  • Travelling to customer meetings domestically & overseas (occasionally, usually up to a week).

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:

  • A good level of understanding in electrical and mechanical engineering for the purpose of producing technical sales tenders.

  • Understanding the key principles regarding variable frequency converters and rotating machines (induction motors and generators, synchronous machines).

  • Experience in capturing and interpreting customer requirements.

  • Flexibility, adaptability and an enthusiastic approach, ability to collaborate.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • An ability to effectively present on a subject.

  • Thorough and proactive approach to work, with a “sense of urgency” to deliver quality results in set deadlines.

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • A valid passport to meet travel requirements.

What will make you stand out:

  • A relevant degree In Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar field, or equivalent qualifications.

  • Industrial/Power Conversion background.

  • Valid UK driver’s license.

  • Familiarity with engineering software, such as: AutoCAD, Power Factory, ETAP, etc.
